A comprehensive work that brings together some 150 key pieces belonging to the Axel & May Vervoordt Foundation. The book includes essays by art historian and museum director Jacqueline Grandjean, journalist Emma Crichton-Miller, as well as texts by Axel and May Vervoordt themselves.

The publication revisits the innovative series of exhibitions curated by Vervoordt at the Palazzo Fortuny in Venice between 2007 and 2017, with a carefully selected visual collection by photographer Jean-Pierre Gabriel. For the first time, all these exhibitions are presented together in a single volume.

Axel and May Vervoordt start from a firm conviction: art possesses an intrinsic force capable of transforming lives and offering new perspectives on the past, present, and future. This vision shapes "A Search for the Universal," a 356-page volume driven by the Foundation, reflecting the family's commitment to disseminating art as a tool for personal and collective transformation.

The central section of the book, 167 pages long, is dedicated to the artworks, with photographs by Laziz Hamani and Jan Liegeois. Each piece includes a detailed description and art-historical analysis.

Beyond a catalog, this book is a testament to the values the Vervoordts find in art and how their coexistence with it has profoundly enriched their lives.
